Jean-Baptiste MacKinnon was born in Montreal, Canada. He obtained his BSc in Social Sciences from McGill University. He has been married to wife Shireen for over thirty years and they have three grown sons and two daughters. He is a member of two professional organizations: the Writer's Union of Canada and the Communications Workers of America. His other books include Bipolar Disorder, Queer North: The Secret Gay History of a Canadian City, and Bipolar: A Great Writer's Struggle with a Mood Disorder. He was awarded a Doctorate in Literature from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, for his PhD in Scottish Gaelic language and literature. He now lives in Vancouver. He is also a native of Montreal.
This report, prepared by the Pacific Public Health Association (PPHA), is a collection of peer-reviewed, evidence-based medicine guidelines for the prevention and treatment of PPH. This is the second report in the series, which was prepared in collaboration with the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences and the National Center for Health Statistics. The purpose of the report is to assist primary care providers in their diagnosis and management of PPH. The recommendations in this report are not a substitute for clinical judgment or the judgment of individual physicians. They do not represent standards of care or other policies of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology or the ACOG and should not be construed as such. They are intended as guidelines only and may be superseded by new research, developments, or the introduction of improved techniques, products, or services.
